Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 28, 2026

This policy describes what information is handled when you read transitionagingparents.com, how the operator uses it and what choices you have. The operator is the person or organisation running Transitionagingparents, and we means that operator throughout.

Why we treat this carefully

People come to this site while dealing with a parent’s memory loss, a hard family conversation or a care decision. A visit to a page about dementia can say something personal, so we aim to collect as little as possible and to explain plainly what we do collect.

Visit logs

When a page is requested, the hosting servers automatically note technical details of the request. An entry can include your IP address, the time of the request, the page you opened, your browser and device type, and the page that sent you here. We use logs to keep the site working, to detect abuse and errors, and to see in broad terms which care topics readers find useful. We do not use logs to build profiles of individual readers or to work out anyone’s health situation.

Cookies and similar technology

Small files or browser storage may be placed on your device while you read about caregiving, dementia or family matters. A few keep basic page functions running. Others, where enabled, count audiences, remember a setting, support advertising or record which article led you to a retailer or service through an affiliate link. Anything set by an outside provider falls under that provider’s own privacy notice rather than this one.

Browser controls and opt-out signals

You can delete or block cookies in your browser, browse privately, or use tools that limit tracking. If your browser sends a do-not-track or global privacy signal, we will treat it as an opt-out request wherever the tools we use allow. Some features may behave differently when cookies are blocked.

Emails and forms

If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you include. Your message is used to reply, to check and fix an article, and to remember what was discussed if you write again. Please avoid sending details about a parent’s diagnosis, medications or finances; you do not need to share them for us to help with a question about an article. Your correspondence is never sold, and we would ask your permission before quoting any of it publicly.

Newsletters

If a newsletter or sign-up form is offered, the details you enter are used only to send what you asked for. Every issue will include a way to stop receiving it, and an email to us asking to be taken off the list works too.

Outside services

Running the site involves outside providers, which may include hosting and delivery networks, analytics tools, advertising and affiliate networks, and embedded content such as videos. They may receive technical information about your visit so their service works. Their handling of that information is covered by their own policies, not ours.

How long we keep information

Visit logs are held for a limited time and then erased or boiled down to anonymous counts. Emails are kept for as long as they help us answer you, check a correction or meet a legal duty, and are then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask what personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, object to some uses, or withdraw consent you gave earlier. To make a request, email [email protected] and say what you would like us to do. Before acting on a request we may need proof that the information is yours, and we will answer within the legal deadline that applies to you.

Children

This site is written for adults caring for or worrying about older relatives. It is aimed at grown readers rather than anyone under 13, and we have no wish to gather information from young children. Should a child’s details reach our inbox, let us know and they will be removed.

Security

Pages are served over encrypted connections where possible, and only the operator can open the inbox that receives your messages. Even so, nothing sent or stored online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

International transfers

Providers that support the site may process data in other countries, where the rules can differ from those where you live. Reading the site can therefore involve your technical visit data crossing borders.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated whenever our practices or legal duties shift. The effective date at the top marks the start of the current version, and reading the site afterwards means the new wording applies to you.
